COVID -19 News: Brainerd and Baxter Hotels Are Open for Business

Brainerd, MN—Eight of the nine hotel properties in Baxter and Brainerd, MN, are open for business. The lodging properties are operating in full compliance with the state’s orders and recommended guidelines to aid in flattening the curve of COVID-19. Added cleaning and sanitizing procedures are being implemented the existing rigorous cleaning required of hotels; food service is limited to pre-packaged meals delivered to the rooms in lieu of breakfast bars; and pools, water parks and fitness rooms have been closed. “Many of our properties have been getting calls from trucking and shipping companies and traveling healthcare workers who need lodging, so we’re just making an effort to keep people informed, “said Mary Devine Johnson, Executive Director of Visit Brainerd, “Lodging properties are working hard to ensure the safety of guests and still remain open to provide the service as needed.”

Owners of the Rapid River Lodge – Comfort Suites announced Thursday that they would be closing at 12:00 p.m. on Friday until further notice. “We hope to re-open on March 30 but will have to play it by ear as the situation is changing daily,” said Katie Goenner.

Visit Brainerd is keeping its website as up-to-date is possible with information on tourism and hospitality businesses in the cities of Baxter and Brainerd.
