The Brainerd Lakes Area is rich in lakes and water sports. On a sunny day, the beaches in Brainerd and Baxter are full of life. Families having picnics, dogs running and children playing in the lake waves. Here is a list of surrounding area beaches that offer public beach access. 

Lum Park

Along with a popular beach access, Whipple Beach Recreational Area offers many outdoor features. During your beach day enjoy a fishing pier, picnic pavilion and tables, a playground, outside showers, public restrooms, sidewalks, and trails. Whipple Beach is located on Oakwood Drive N. in Baxter.  

On the edge of Brainerd, Lum Park RV and Recreational Park gives you easy access to all that the Brainerd Lakes area has to offer. Enjoy public beach access, bicycle and walking trails, gazebo’s, a disc golf course, fishing pier, and large park with plenty of green space and excellent amenities. Lum Park is located on Rice Lake off 210 East. 

Pelican Lake Public Beach is located on County Road 118 off Highway 25 North of Brainerd, in Merrifield. Access easily accessible amenities such as a public restroom, changing rooms, and picnic table to make your beach day even more successful! 

Crosby Memorial Park – Serpent Statue

Right off Main Street in Crosby is the Crosby Memorial Park Beach and Playground. With a playground that draws kids from near and far, camping, and other amenities such as restrooms, and all nestled along the shores of Serpent Lake. The park features a beachfront, skateboard park, baseball field, basketball court, pavilion, band shell and Serpent Lake boat access. The park is also home to Kanabec, a giant, colorful, serpent statue that was installed in 1977, a unique addition to the park!

Pillager Lake Park is located on Highway 1 going North of State Highway 210. The park features a swimming area, fishing pier, picnic tables, benches, and playground equipment. Pillager Lake Park is a wonderful place for families to gather for a picnic, swim, or fish! 

In central Minnesota’s popular lakes area, the Crosslake Recreation Area is best known for its picturesque sunsets and beautiful beaches. Two onsite beaches are convenient for swimming and sunbathing. The recreation area provides plenty of water-based entertainments like boating, canoeing, kayaking, water skiing and fishing. Located adjacent to the city of Crosslake and just a short walk from shopping and a paved bike trail.  

Whipple Beach

Located on County Road 3 in Crosslake is the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Dam and Recreational Park. This park offers a shaded picnic area, grills, shelter, and public restrooms. Swimming areas, a playground, canoe launch and boat launch also make this park a fun place to visit.
