Fishing Picking Up in the Brainerd Lakes Area

Walleyes on Gull have moved to a fairly nocturnal bite. Trolling stick baits on any of the flats in the 6-12 foot range has been producing well. North Long, Hubert and Pelican have been producing fairly well during day light hours in emerging cabbage beds. Slip bobbers with leeches or spot tails have worked well. The smaller lakes have been starting to push out some good walleyes pulling leeches and spinners as well as slip bobbers.

Panfish have all been very active with crappies starting to spawn in the big lakes. Bluegills are still staging but with water temps in the mid 60’s it won’t be long for them either.

Largemouth and smallmouth are both bedding pretty heavy. Pike action remains hot on the shoreline breaks heading into the basin. Speed trolling with jerk baits spoons have both been doing well.
