Ski Trails:

There are many ski trails in the Brainerd Lakes Area; many of which are groomed Grant-In-Aid funded trails. To “legally” ski any GIA funded trail, cross country/Nordic skiers aged 16 years and older must purchase a MN Ski Pass. A non-pass holder can be sited by any Conservation Officer if caught on these trails without a pass. The Annual and 3-Year passes can be purchased at any ELS (Electronic Licensing Station) station (if they sell fishing licenses, etc., they will sell ski passes) and the Daily can be purchased from a variety of non-ELS providers. The Northland Arboretum is one provider in our area that sells the daily pass.

The Northland Arboretum contains trails for all experience levels. These trails are groomed for classic and skate.

1/15/22: Plenty of snow well packed and groomed. Very good way finding/signage. Beautiful day and scenery.

The Pine Beach Ski Trails are both classic and skate and include trails for all abilities.

1/15/22: We have the entire system now groomed and will be going to our regular weekly schedule (usually Thursday) unless we receive addition snowfall.  Pine Beach East and West will be groomed double wide to allow for ski skating when possible. Annual snowfall accumulation is 36″.

The French Rapids trails are groomed classic and skate, include steep hills and are for intermediate and advanced skiers.

1/18/22: No updated report found.

The Larson Lake Trail system is a good mix of classic and skate trails.  Please note that the interior loops are classic only.

1/17/22: Great coverage everywhere. Hills in good condition. Some debris throughout, but very easily avoidable.

The Wolf Lake Ski Trail is a classic only trail system.

1/13/22: Tracks set last Saturday are very much skiable. No new snow so leaves are present in areas and relatively few oak and ironwood leaves in other areas. Great skiing in the mild weather!

Thank you to the Brainerd Nordic Ski Club, Skinnyski.com and Mark Kavanaugh for their reports.

Snowmobile Trails:

Crow Wing County Snowmobile Trails Association Clubs 1/17/22: We currently have about 35″ of snow for our total accumulation. Most of the clubs have moved to their regular grooming schedules. We have 15 groomers in the CWCSTA and we have had 5 broken down at various times.  The clubs have been putting in a lot of hours grooming but with all the traffic we have received it’s just plain hard to keep up. Please use extreme caution on the lakes, though frozen they are never completely safe. We have had 3 sleds go through and a couple trucks so be careful and “know before you go”. Lots of snow does not give you permission to go onto private property – NO TRESPASSING!

The Brainerd Snodeos maintain and groom 107 miles of trail from Brainerd to Riverton, to Crow Wing State Park, to Harding and towards Garrison.

1/13/22: All trails groomed.

Gull Lake Drifters

1/13/22: All trails groomed.

Merrifield Marathons

1/13/22: All trails are groomed and in excellent condition.

Baxter Snowmobile Club groom weekly on Monday Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

1/18/22: No updated report found.
