Birds observed this past week in the Brainerd Lakes area include: Trumpeter Swan, Ruffed Grouse, Common Loon, Hooded Merganser, Belted Kingfisher, Mallard, Goose, Woodduck, Bald Eagle, Turkey Vulture, Red-tailed Hawk, Peregrine Falcon, American Kestrel, Northern Harrier, Tree Swallow, Cliff Swallow, Bank Swallow, Sandhill Crane, Vesper Sparrow, Clay-colored Sparrow, Song Sparrow, Purple Finch, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Indigo Bunting, Oriole, Ruby-throated Hummingbird, Phoebe, Least Flycatcher, Red-breasted Nuthatch, Pileated Woodpecker, Northern Flicker, Gray Catbird, Brown Thrasher, Eastern Bluebird, Whip-poor Will, Great-crested Flycatcher, Barn Swallow, Osprey, Yellow Warbler, Common Yellowthroat and Goldfinch.
