Happy Summer and Happy Birding! My name is Judd Brink Owner/Guide of MN Backyard Birds.

Birds Observed This Past Week in the Brainerd Lakes Area
If you are wondering where the birds went, please don’t be alarmed. Many of the birds that visited our feeders earlier this spring are still here but are now nesting and finding many of the natural foods.

Birds being observed and or reported within the Brainerd lakes area include.  Great-blue Heron, Mallard, Woodduck, Common Merganser, Tree Swallow, Purple Martin, Cliff Swallow, White Pelican, Common Loon, Ring-billed Gull, Red-tailed Hawk, American Kestrel, Broad-winged Hawk, Peregrine Falcon, Bald Eagle, Osprey, Trumpeter Swan, Canada Goose, Baltimore Oriole, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Pileated Woodpecker, Ruby-throated Hummingbird, Gray Catbird, Common Raven, Belted Kingfisher, Eastern Bluebird, Eastern Towhee, Red-headed Woodpecker, Yellow Warbler, Golden-winged Warbler, Eastern Phoebe, Eastern Kingbird, Cedar Waxwing, House Finch, American Goldfinch, Red-winged Blackbird, Morning Dove, Red-breasted Nuthatch and House Wren.  Happy Birding!

It’s a great time to think about birdscaping your yard to help attract more colorful birds!  Ask for native fruiting trees and shrubs to plant around the house or cabin to bring in more birds naturally!

Please also remember many of our Common Loons are nesting and this is a dangerous time of the year so be careful and cautious when boating around nesting loons.

Be Well and Be Safe and Enjoy watching the birds from home or out at the many trails found in the area.
