Brainerd Fishing Report: January 8, 2020

This weekly fishing report features multiple lakes in the Brainerd Lakes Area located in central Minnesota. It’s provided by Nate Berg Fishing Guides.

Ice is getting better in the Brainerd Lakes area but with that said much of the ice is “slush ice” caution is still needed when it comes to wheel houses or vehicles. Lots of the layers of slush have huge air pockets which will cause some issue with ice strength.

Bluegills and crappies continue to be on the chomp on the smaller lakes with all day bites being the norm. Green weeds and basin holes are the key spots. Walleyes continue to bite on the bigger lakes at low light periods. Some good pike have started to get active on weed lines.
