Wonderful Multi Species Fishing Continues in the Brainerd Lakes Area
Crappies have really picked up their feeding, including during day light periods. Look for fish to be schooled up just off dense weed cover near drop offs or areas where there are no weeds on large flats. Casting plastics or trolling small crank baits have been both very effective. Bluegills have moved off weed edges and points and are stacking up just off the weed lines. Small ice fishing plastics, night crawlers, leeches and wax-worms have all been working equally.
Walleyes are very active off of weed edges. Several presentations have been working well with night-crawlers being the best bet for active fish. There is a great night trolling bite going on despite the heat. Both the inside and outside weed edges have been producing well.
Pike are still very active but have moved a bit deeper. Try slow rolling big spoons or long lining suckers in 14-25 feet. Both large-mouth and small-mouth continue to be active. Pretty much any presentation you can think of will work.
