The Farmer’s Market Basket was designed by instructor Shannon Lucas Westrum, exclusively for this workshop series. Students will have the opportunity to learn the making of a filled woven base, weaving with flat and round reed, twining, wrapping handles, and making their own accent cordage from locally harvested grasses and leaves.
Approx dimensions – 17” long, 12” deep, basket sides are 7.5” high, with handles at 15” tall
Schedule:
Friday Evening, 6-9pm, Getting to know the materials, setting up the base, a basketry slide show, and cordage making.
Saturday, 10am-4pm, with 1/2hr lunch break, weaving the sides, cordage making, lashing rims and creating wrapped handles. (Some handles may need to finish being wrapped at home.)
