Our advice would be to retire your ice fishing equipment for the year.
As of Tuesday, people were still getting on the ice on some lakes, but on many the ice has pulled away from shore. The ice is very water soaked and when you drill a hole it’s coming up in large chunks. We highly advise to stay off the lakes at this stage.
With this next round of heavy snow heading into the area the bad spots will be impossible to see. Our advice would be to retire your ice fishing equipment for the year.
