Snowmobile Trails:
Crow Wing County Snowmobile Trails Association Club – Update for 1-12-23
We have had 31” of snow so far this season and the good news is that all the trails in the Brainerd Lakes Area are open. The clubs are now resuming regular grooming operations and we will post as we receive reports. However, there are some spotty problem areas throughout the system that the clubs are having issues with because of swamps or lakes not freezing enough to support the groomers. Also, there are some trails that are still being cleared by the clubs from the damage we received in the December storm. Known problem areas: Sibley Lake Access, Aspen Trail, Hwy. 23 Ditch and the area behind Mille Lacs Casino.
Lots of snow does not give you permission to go onto private property – NO TRESPASSING!
Brainerd Snodeos maintain and groom 107 miles of trail from Brainerd to Riverton, to Crow Wing State Park, to Harding and towards Garrison.
Gull Lake Drifters
1/12/23 Groomed Sno Way 1, the 24 ditch, Rock Lake north, and the 77 ditch today. Grooming Nisswa to Breezy tomorrow. All of our trails have been groomed at least once. Work is planned for the muddy swamp on the west side of Sibley Lake (Friday). The plan is to lay slabs across, corduroy road style.
Merrifield Marathons
1/11/23 Merrifield trails were groomed yesterday and our section of the Paul Bunyan Trail was groomed last night. With the new fallen snow the trails are awesome.
Baxter Snowmobile Club groom weekly on Monday Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
1/12/23 Baxter trail system is fully opened and all trails have been groomed with trail being in great shape. Still finding some water and soft spots in the larger swamps.
Cross Country Ski Trails:
- Jan 14 – Northland Arboretum (Brainerd): Excellent conditions all-around! For trail length, quality, and scenery the Northland arboretum is a real gem.
- Jan 13 – Wolf Lake Ski Trails (Brainerd): Trail conditions were very good. and are very well marked. Tracks were a little washed out in small sections from use and there were some isolated oak leaves and pine needles.
- Jan 13 – French Rapids Ski Trails (Brainerd): An inch of snow on Wednesday, so re-groomed skate lanes and set new track on all open trails.
