Snowmobile Trails:
Crow Wing County Snowmobile Trails Association Clubs 2/14/22: Great news, we picked up another 3” of good new snow bringing our season total to 44″ so that should get us through another couple weeks. Most of the clubs are on their regular grooming schedules. Please use extreme caution on the lakes, though frozen they are never completely safe. Lots of snow does not give you permission to go onto private property – NO TRESPASSING!
Brainerd Snodeos maintain and groom 107 miles of trail from Brainerd to Riverton, to Crow Wing State Park, to Harding and towards Garrison.
2/11/22: Trails are in better shape than expected and holding up. Please take it easy on the corners but most of the trails received 3-4” yesterday and looking VERY rideable.
Gull Lake Drifters
2/11/22: All trails groomed.
Merrifield Marathons
2/11/22: All trails are groomed and in excellent condition.
Baxter Snowmobile Club groom weekly on Monday Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
2/11/22: All trails groomed.
Kavanaugh’s Resort:
2/15/22: The access trail in and out of Kavanaugh’s has been groomed as well as the trail to the Gull Lake Trail and Pillsbury State Forest.
Ski Trails:
There are many ski trails in the Brainerd Lakes Area; many of which are groomed Grant-In-Aid funded trails. To “legally” ski any GIA funded trail, cross country/Nordic skiers aged 16 years and older must purchase a MN Ski Pass. A non-pass holder can be sited by any Conservation Officer if caught on these trails without a pass. The Annual and 3-Year passes can be purchased at any ELS (Electronic Licensing Station) station (if they sell fishing licenses, etc., they will sell ski passes) and the Daily can be purchased from a variety of non-ELS providers. The Northland Arboretum is one provider in our area that sells the daily pass.
The Northland Arboretum contains trails for all experience levels. These trails are groomed for classic and skate.
2/15/22: No updated trail report available.
The Pine Beach Ski Trails are both classic and skate and include trails for all abilities.
2/11/22: With the 3″ of new snow we received last night we have the entire system now groomed and in very good condition. We will continue grooming on our regular weekly schedule (usually Thursday) unless we receive addition snowfall. Pine Beach East and West will be groomed double wide to allow for ski skating when possible. Annual snowfall accumulation is 40″.
The French Rapids trails are groomed classic and skate, include steep hills and are for intermediate and advanced skiers.
2/15/22: No updated trail report available.
The Larson Lake Trail system is a good mix of classic and skate trails. Please note that the interior loops are classic only.
2/14/22: 1.5 ” of fluff last night. Groomed all skate lanes and set new track on all segments. Leaves? What leaves! Thanks to Mother Nature and our great groomer! Deerwood area skiers have been really spoiled lately. Skiing this afternoon was simply spectacular.
The Wolf Lake Ski Trail is a classic only trail system.
2/15/22: No updated trail report available.
Thank you to the Brainerd Nordic Ski Club, Skinnyski.com and Mark Kavanaugh for their reports.
