Mount Ski Gull:

We offer skiing, snowboarding and tubing in one convenient location. Helping our community to become a better place to live has been our guiding principle for 50 years. Mount Ski Gull’s mission is to provide challenging activities in a fun and healthy environment which empowers youth to develop confidence, competency, and compassion.

It’s March Madness hours at MSG! We still have plenty of snow (and mid-winter prime snow conditions)! We will now be open Thursdays (instead of Mondays)! Come & enjoy this spring weather!

Snowmobile Trails:

Crow Wing County Snowmobile Trails Association Clubs 3/5/22: The trails are holding up fairly well and most of the clubs are still on their normal grooming schedule. Some of the open areas are showing wear and tear but in the woods in pretty good. The lakes are getting slushy in the unpacked areas.

Brainerd Snodeos maintain and groom 107 miles of trail from Brainerd to Riverton, to Crow Wing State Park, to Harding and towards Garrison.

3/7/22: Rode sleds from Upper South Long Lake towards The Fort, north to Crow Wing State Park over to Brainerd then northeast towards Oak Lawn for lunch and back to Upper South Long Lake. The trails are in fact looking good but will need some groomer attention this week. With pending cooler temps, trails should hold up for at least two more weeks. Bare spots are starting to show but the corners are holding up for now.

We’re scheduled to groom most of our system Wednesday pending volunteers’ schedules. Trails should be looking good for the weekend and may be the last “good” weekend of riding unless we get more snow.

Gull Lake Drifters

3/4/22: As of tonight, all Gull Lake Drifters trails have been groomed for the week. There are a few bare spots on the Paul Bunyan Trail, but everything is holding up well.

Merrifield Marathons

3/8/22: No updated trail report available.

Baxter Snowmobile Club groom weekly on Monday Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

3/7/22: Some corners are getting icy and Southern facing slopes are starting to get thin. Trails are still in good shape at this point, but we could use more snow to freshen them up a bit. The trails are being groomed today, get out and enjoy what’s left of Winter!

Ski Trails:

There are many ski trails in the Brainerd Lakes Area; many of which are groomed Grant-In-Aid funded trails. To “legally” ski any GIA funded trail, cross country/Nordic skiers aged 16 years and older must purchase a MN Ski Pass. A non-pass holder can be sited by any Conservation Officer if caught on these trails without a pass. The Annual and 3-Year passes can be purchased at any ELS (Electronic Licensing Station) station (if they sell fishing licenses, etc., they will sell ski passes) and the Daily can be purchased from a variety of non-ELS providers. The Northland Arboretum is one provider in our area that sells the daily pass.

The Northland Arboretum contains trails for all experience levels. These trails are groomed for classic and skate.

3/7/22: Groomers have been getting out most days keeping the skate deck groomed so it is mostly firm and fast old snow with a few areas a little icy or hardpacked. Classic tracks were last set several days ago so they are fair to poor – glazed with areas of collected oak leaves.

The Pine Beach Ski Trails are both classic and skate and include trails for all abilities.

3/8/22: No updated trail report available.

The French Rapids trails are groomed classic and skate, include steep hills and are for intermediate and advanced skiers.

3/8/22: No updated trail report available.

The Larson Lake Trail system is a good mix of classic and skate trails.  Please note that the interior loops are classic only.

3/2/22: Groomed all skate lanes after the dusting of snow last night. Made two passes. Also set a classic track on the upper, inside (difficult/black) segments.

The Wolf Lake Ski Trail is a classic only trail system.

3/8/22: No updated trail report available.

Thank you to the Brainerd Nordic Ski Club, Skinnyski.com and Mark Kavanaugh for their reports.
